Native risk settings
View current Tradovate limits, change personal daily limits, and request manual lockout on eligible accounts.
Open Live Connections → Risk Settings in the sidebar to manage native protection for each connected Account. Expand Live Connections to reveal Risk Settings, then find the Connection and choose Show settings for an Account.
Native controls are available only where the connected platform exposes them. Tradovate and NinjaTrader connections use the same Tradovate support. cTrader native limits and manual lockout are not available here.
Read the current settings
trackmyprop reads the Account's current settings from Tradovate, including limits you set directly in Tradovate. If you already set a $1,000 personal daily loss limit there, that is the value you should see when the current settings load. Connecting or opening this page does not change a limit or lock an Account.
For an assigned prop-firm Account, Personal limits shows the limits saved for your trader login. The Account owner's limits appear separately under Provider limits. Save an edit in Tradovate before checking it here; an unsaved form value is not a saved limit.
The Account shows when its settings were checked. While an Account panel is open and the app is active, it refreshes about once a minute. It also refreshes when you return to the app if a check is due, and near a manual lockout's end time. Choose Refresh to request a current check yourself.
If a check fails, Unavailable does not mean that a limit is off or that the Account is unlocked. Previously observed values may remain visible with their check time, but the affected controls stay disabled until current information is available.
Personal limits and provider limits
Personal limits are the limits you set for the Account. You can edit Daily loss limit and Daily profit target where Tradovate allows changes. Other personal limits shows weekly loss, weekly profit, and trailing drawdown for reference; you cannot edit those fields here.
Provider limits shows the daily limits Tradovate reports for the broker or prop firm, with weekly loss, weekly profit, and trailing drawdown in its expandable details. These are read-only. Provider limits unavailable means trackmyprop could not obtain them; it does not mean the provider has no limits. Provider limits are separate from your personal limits and still apply when a personal limit is Off.
Tradovate may lock changes or restrict the amounts you can save. trackmyprop cannot override those restrictions. Tradovate enforces saved native limits on its servers, including when trackmyprop is closed.
Change a daily limit
- Refresh the Account and review its current personal and provider limits.
- Turn on the personal limit and enter an amount greater than zero in USD. To clear that personal limit, explicitly turn its switch off.
- Choose Save settings.
- Wait for the confirmation that the settings were saved in Tradovate.
Saving the daily loss limit preserves the daily profit target and the other settings from the current personal profile. Turning a personal limit off does not change any provider limit.
Before saving, trackmyprop checks whether the current broker settings still match the values you started editing. If they changed, choose Discard changes, review the refreshed values, and edit again. A successful save is confirmed by reading the settings back from Tradovate.
If a save cannot be verified, refresh before trying again. The app does not automatically repeat an uncertain change. When Tradovate's response is lost, the message says the outcome is unknown: check Tradovate before trying again.
Request manual lockout
Manual lockout is available only for eligible Tradovate Prop evaluation Accounts in Demo. You must be signed in as the Account's trader. Tradovate checks the Account's eligibility when you submit the request; seeing No manual lockout does not prove that the Account can start one.
For a connected Demo Account, the app checks the current lockout status even when it cannot confirm permission to start a lockout. Locked or No manual lockout describes the reported state; the explanation below the controls describes why Lock account… may be unavailable. Status unavailable means the status itself could not be confirmed.
Lockouts you start directly in Tradovate also appear here after a status refresh, with their reported end time and remaining duration.
- Open the Account's Manual lockout controls and refresh its status.
- Enter a whole number from 1 to 1,440 minutes (up to 24 hours).
- Choose Lock account….
- Review the Account and duration in the confirmation, then confirm the lockout.
Tradovate closes open positions, cancels working orders, and rejects new orders on that Account across connected platforms. You cannot cancel the lockout or unlock the Account early. It continues to apply when trackmyprop is closed.
An active lockout shows its reported end time and remaining duration. When the countdown reaches zero, trackmyprop waits for Tradovate to confirm the status; the clock alone never makes the Account appear unlocked.
If Tradovate accepts the request but the following status check fails, the app keeps that acceptance visible and asks you to refresh. If the request itself has an uncertain outcome, it may already have taken effect. Neither outcome causes an automatic retry. Refresh the status or check Tradovate before taking another action.
Lockouts and the trade copier
If the Account leads a copier group that is copying, the lockout and new daily limit confirmations warn that Tradovate's liquidation will be copied to the group's followers. Tick the acknowledgement to continue, or choose Turn off group first…. Turning the group off stops new copies, copied closes and management; followers keep their positions and orders at the broker, and the group stays off until you turn it back on in Trade Copier. Some groups cannot be turned back on afterwards, and the confirmation says so.
If the Account follows a copier group, Trade Copier pauses copies to it until the lockout ends, with a notification for each group. This applies to lockouts made in trackmyprop; a lockout you start directly in Tradovate does not pause the copier.
Connection permissions
trackmyprop's Tradovate app permissions include Account Risk Settings — Full Access. Your own authorization and the Account's restrictions still determine which actions Tradovate permits. An existing sign-in may need renewed access.
If settings report access denied, use Reconnect to review access under the Connection's Troubleshooting controls. Sign in to the same Tradovate login, review the offered permissions, then return to Risk Settings. See Reconnect to review Tradovate access for the full steps. Reconnecting preserves saved history and Account links; sync and copying pause while the session is replaced. It cannot remove a prop firm restriction or end a lockout early.
