Cloud sync and multiple computers

Understand what follows your account between computers, how offline edits work, and how cloud sync differs from broker sync.

Cloud sync keeps your trackmyprop workspace available when you sign in on another computer. It is separate from broker sync:

  • Broker sync imports fresh accounts, trades, balances, and orders from a connected broker.
  • Cloud sync carries the trackmyprop records and preferences you have already saved between your computers.

What syncs

Cloud sync includes your accounts (archived accounts sync as archived), challenges and phases, journal trades and trade notes, notebook notes, preferences, rule templates, custom options, and expense setup.

Some data deliberately stays local:

  • Broker sign-in credentials and connection sessions
  • Raw broker evidence and import files
  • Certificate images

Keeping these items local limits how much sensitive broker and financial material leaves your computer. Older versions kept some TradeLocker logins and cTrader sign-in tokens in the cloud; those have been deleted from trackmyprop's servers.

When changes sync

Changes sync about 2 seconds after you save them, and otherwise every 30 seconds while you are signed in. After a failure, sync waits a little longer each time, up to 5 minutes. When trackmyprop's server asks it to slow down, it waits as long as the server says before trying again.

A single change larger than 256 KB is refused when you save it, with a message asking you to shorten it.

Open Settings → Account → Cloud sync to see when this workspace last synced, or why a sync failed with a plain next step. It shows how many changes are waiting to upload and offers Sync now. If some records are not in sync with the cloud, it lists them by reason. They stay as they are on this computer.

Working offline

You can keep using trackmyprop without a connection. Changes are saved on the computer immediately and wait safely until cloud sync can reach trackmyprop again.

When you reconnect, queued changes upload first and newer changes from your other computers download afterward. trackmyprop remembers the last completed download, so an interrupted sync resumes without skipping completed records.

Restoring an Account or Challenge keeps its original identity and saved links across computers. Permanent Account-data deletion in Data also removes the matching records from the cloud, including its journal Trades and Trade notes. Trades that a broker sync replaces (superseded or duplicate rows) are removed from the cloud too.

Data you deleted on this computer is never re-created from the cloud.

Conflicting edits and refused changes

If two computers edit the same record before either sees the other's change, trackmyprop keeps the server version and downloads it again instead of silently overwriting it with an older edit.

A change the cloud could not accept is tried once more after the next app update. It is not sent again otherwise. Editing or deleting the record, or receiving a newer version from another computer, replaces it, so an old change is never sent over newer data and a deleted record never comes back.

For important notes or settings, let one computer finish syncing before editing the same item on another computer.

When a notebook save fails, the editor shows Save failed and keeps your current text on screen. Leave the note open, check that the app is responsive, and make another edit to retry. Do not close the note until the failed message clears.

One workspace, one account

A workspace syncs with the first trackmyprop account that signs in on it. If you sign in with a different account, sync and copying pause, and every copier group stays stopped, even after a restart.

To resume, sign in with the original account, or open Settings → Account → Cloud sync and choose Use with this account. That uploads the accounts, trades, challenges, phases, and preferences on this computer to the account you are signed in to. Nothing on this computer is deleted.

Moving to another computer

  1. Install trackmyprop and sign in with the same account.
  2. Leave the app open while the first cloud sync completes.
  3. Confirm your accounts, challenges, journal, notes, and expenses appear.
  4. Reconnect brokers separately if you want that computer to import fresh broker activity.
  5. Copy or relink certificate images separately; they are not uploaded.
