Add a connection

Connect a broker for live sync or create a manual import connection.

A connection is how account data enters trackmyprop. Use live sync when trackmyprop should pull data from a supported broker. Use manual import when you want to upload broker files yourself.

Choose the right mode

  • Live sync - best for accounts you want to keep updated automatically.
  • Manual import - best for historical files, unsupported brokers, or accounts you want to keep separate from live sync.

Live and manual accounts stay separate, even if they use the same broker account number.

The mode describes how data reaches trackmyprop. Live and Demo describe the broker environment instead, so they appear as a separate account detail. A manual import is not automatically a demo account. Older accounts that cannot be classified safely show Unclassified and Unknown rather than a guessed label.

Add a live connection

  1. Choose Add in the sidebar, then search for or choose Connection. You can also press Command-K, choose Create, then choose Connection. Opening Live Connections and choosing Add connection starts the same journey.
  2. Search for or choose the trading platform in the Connection step. Setup continues inside the same Create surface. Press Enter or Right Arrow to continue from the selected platform. Choose the visible back action, press Left Arrow, or press Backspace to return without losing the platform query or unfinished connection choices. Press Escape to close the complete Create journey.
  3. Complete the sign-in or credential step.
  4. Review the accounts found under that login.
  5. Keep only the accounts you want to track.
  6. Name the connection and save.

If some selected accounts cannot be linked to their challenge phases, trackmyprop still keeps the connection and the accounts that succeeded. The confirmation names how many links failed. Open the affected challenge or Account afterward and link it again; you do not need to recreate the connection.

OAuth brokers open in your system browser. trackmyprop does not ask for OAuth broker passwords inside an embedded browser. After approval, the browser returns the result to the desktop app automatically. It does not need local-network access permission.

Tradovate permissions

Tradovate and NinjaTrader Brokerage use the same Tradovate sign-in. Review the permissions offered in your browser before approving. Native risk controls need permission to read and change Account Risk Settings; trading access by itself does not confirm that access.

Connecting keeps risk limits you already set in Tradovate. It does not change them or start a manual lockout. Manual lockout is available only for eligible Tradovate Prop evaluation accounts. When you explicitly request a lockout, Tradovate closes positions, cancels working orders, and rejects new orders until it expires. You cannot end it early yourself.

After connecting, open Live Connections → Risk Settings to review the Account's current values. See Native risk settings for editing limits and requesting manual lockout.

If access is denied after connecting, follow Reconnect to review Tradovate access.

Live sync platforms

New live connections are open for Tradovate and NinjaTrader Brokerage. Every other platform shows Coming soon in the Connection step and cannot be chosen yet. Connections you already added on those platforms keep syncing, and the notes below still apply to them.

  • Tradovate - choose live or demo during setup.
  • NinjaTrader Brokerage - uses the Tradovate-powered sync flow.
  • cTrader - sign in with cTrader Open API, then select only the Accounts this Connection should track. One sign-in can show demo and live Accounts; trackmyprop keeps their broker connections separate automatically.
  • Match-Trader - enter the secure Match-Trader platform address, email, and password supplied by your broker or prop firm, then choose the Accounts this Connection should track. Credentials stay in the desktop credential vault; the app stores only an opaque reference with the Connection.
  • TradeLocker - enter environment, email, password, and server.
  • Rithmic - enter the developer username and password issued for Rithmic Test. This development simulator supports account sync, journaling, and Test copying. Prop-firm Rithmic Paper Trading accounts are awaiting provider approval; the free 14-day trial does not include R|Protocol API access.
  • DXtrade - first identify the account as CFD / Forex or Crypto, then enter the secure API address, username, domain, password, and account type supplied by your broker or prop firm. Add the optional wss:// Push URL only when your provider supplies it. Add Futures accounts through dxFeed, not DXtrade.
  • Volumetrica, dxFeed, and DeepCharts - use the Futures trading login from your Volumetrica-powered prop firm or DeepCharts account. trackmyprop detects live and staging accounts automatically. Standalone dxFeed market-data subscription credentials cannot sign in to the trading connection.

For Volumetrica-powered connections, setup is not finished when the account list appears. After you choose accounts and save, keep the app open while the first sync runs. The connection appears in Live Connections only after that sync succeeds, including the valid “no new trades” result. If you cancel or setup fails, trackmyprop removes the unfinished connection and credentials so you can retry safely.

DXtrade providers control API access per login and account. If trackmyprop says API access is not enabled, ask your broker or prop firm to enable the DXtrade REST and Push APIs for your login. trackmyprop cannot override that provider setting and does not contact the provider on your behalf.

The DXtrade market choice is a safety boundary, not decoration. trackmyprop saves it with every Account and prevents a copier group from mixing CFD / Forex and Crypto Accounts. Older DXtrade Accounts without a market tag must be reconnected before they can join a copier group. Futures Accounts stay in the separate dxFeed platform family. Demo DXtrade Connections can run copied-order integration; production routing stays unavailable until the provider approves it.

Rithmic Test and Rithmic Paper Trading are separate systems with separate access. A simulated prop-firm account is not a Rithmic Test developer account. Only Rithmic Test can connect in this release. Paper Trading and live systems stay unavailable until the provider approves the application and supplies the permitted system and gateway details. Passing a read-only implementation check does not approve copied orders on Paper Trading.

Match-Trader addresses are broker-specific. Use the exact HTTPS platform address from your provider; do not substitute the public Match-Trader website or guess another broker's address. A saved Match-Trader Connection refreshes its short-lived session automatically. If the provider removes the login or Account, reconnect with the current credentials.

Choose which Accounts to add

After connecting, Accounts to add lists the Accounts found at your broker. Every Account starts checked. Uncheck any you do not want to track, or use Select all accounts to clear or select the whole list. Select at least one Account before saving.

You can name and link the selected Accounts before choosing Save connection. Unchecked Accounts are not added by this setup. Their broker settings and balances stay unchanged.

Add a manual connection

  1. Open Manual Imports.
  2. Choose Import trades.
  3. Search for the broker, or choose Generic CSV.
  4. Upload the export file or bundle.
  5. Review the preview.
  6. Name the connection and save.

For Generic CSV, trackmyprop creates one stable manual Account when you save. The filename is only a visible label; renaming a later export does not create a new identity. To import newer history, open Manual Imports, select that existing Account, and choose Add import.

For a full walkthrough, see Import trades manually.

Name connections clearly

Use names that tell you the firm, platform, and purpose at a glance:

  • Topstep Tradovate
  • Apex phase 2
  • FundedNext cTrader
  • NinjaTrader sim

Clear names make challenge linking and copier setup easier later.

Rithmic Test provides current-session executions but no historical fill archive. A successful empty sync is normal for an unused Test account. Rithmic journal P&L is before fees because the execution feed does not supply commission; missing fees are unavailable, not zero-cost trading.
