Connections and Accounts
Understand live connections, manual imports, and tracked accounts.
Connections and Accounts are related, but they are not the same thing.
- A Connection is the setup you manage in the app.
- An Account is the broker-side trading account that belongs to that connection.
One broker login can return more than one account. Each account can be tracked, linked to a challenge phase, and reviewed in the journal.
Live Connections
Use Live Connections for accounts that sync from a supported broker.
Expand Live Connections in the sidebar and choose Risk Settings to view current Tradovate or NinjaTrader native limits and request manual lockout on eligible Accounts. See Native risk settings.
The page opens as a Connection browser. Use Card view to scan connection health and account totals, or List view for a denser operational view. Your view choice is remembered. Search and platform filters narrow the browser without changing the Accounts stored under each Connection.
Open a Connection to enter its workspace. The workspace keeps the Connection's status, sync controls, and summary at the top, then shows its Accounts in a table for account-level work such as pausing an Account, linking a Challenge, or opening Account details. Choose Back to return to the same browser state.
Account statistics
Account details calculate performance from the trade history saved on this computer. You can review these statistics without internet access. Results refresh after imports and syncs; reconnect to collect any newer broker history. Daily charts follow each account's trading day (see Trading days and periods). Accounts with the same displayed identifier keep their results separate. Trades still in their quote currency are left out of totals, counts and win rate, and the statistics say how many were left out.
An account's balance history records a new point only when the balance changes, not on every sync. An unknown balance shows —, never $0.
Percentage return appears only when a historical starting balance is available. If statistics cannot be refreshed, choose Retry in Account details.
Today's P&L
Each Account shows Today's P&L beside its balance. Positive and negative amounts show which accounts made or lost money today, after trading fees. Open-position P&L remains separate.
Today follows each account's trading day: the CME session for futures (it resets at 17:00 Chicago time), the broker's day for CFD and forex accounts when trackmyprop knows it, and otherwise midnight in the timezone selected in the sidebar's date and timezone control. Changing your journal's date range or selected accounts does not change this current-day view. DXtrade accounts show Not available yet, because DXtrade supplies no trade history.
Results update as trade history syncs. Awaiting sync means today's history has not been confirmed; it does not mean zero. Partial means some results are available while other history may still be missing. Hover or focus a result for its sync and calculation details. If a result cannot be refreshed, choose Retry beside the summary.
Where individual exit results are available, partial exits count on the trading day they close. Otherwise, the full trade's result counts on the trading day of its final close.
Each Account uses its confirmed account currency. The summary combines results only when the currencies agree. A dash means a currency or combined result is unavailable; no currency conversion is assumed.
Use Manage connections when you need multi-select actions or want to change the default Connection order. Reordering is available in List view with search and platform filters cleared, so a hidden filtered item cannot move by mistake.
Common actions:
- Sync now - request a fresh sync.
- Pause or resume - disable a connection without deleting it.
- Reconnect - re-authorize when the broker session expires.
- Delete - remove a connection you no longer want to track.
Deleting a Connection stops any sync currently running for that Connection. It does not start or stop sync for your other Connections. Deleting works offline.
Reporting time zone
Open a Connection's settings to set its Reporting timezone, which sets the
trading day for CFD and forex accounts on that Connection. Enter an IANA name
such as America/New_York or Europe/London; any letter case is accepted and
saved in its standard form. An offset such as +02:00 or an unknown name is
refused with a message. Clear the field to remove the zone.
Deleting a cTrader Connection also deletes every copier group that uses it and stops trackmyprop's automatic management for those groups. Open positions and pending orders remain at cTrader; review and manage them in cTrader after the deletion.
By default, deletion keeps the Account history on this computer as retained data, including linked Challenge phases and payouts. Add the same broker Accounts again to restore those links automatically. Linked Accounts show Connection removed · Link saved until they are reconnected.
Select Also delete data from this connection only when you want to permanently remove the Accounts, Trades, balances, and import history at the same time. trackmyprop completes that choice as one action, so it will not delete the data while leaving a connected-looking row behind.
If deletion cannot finish, the message names the Connection and explains what needs attention. Failed Connections stay selected so you can safely retry them.
Remove one Account from a Connection
Open the Connection, open an Account’s actions menu, and choose Remove account. You can also remove it from its Account details sheet. Review the confirmation and choose Remove account to finish.
This removes the Account from tracking in trackmyprop. Its saved history, Challenge links, and payouts are kept, and the Account at your broker is unchanged. Tradovate’s Refresh accounts will not add a removed Account again. To restore it, reconnect and select that Account during setup. If the Account belongs to a Trade Copier group, remove it from that group first.
Manual Imports
Use Manual Imports for accounts created from broker export files.
Common actions:
- Add import - upload newer history to the same manual account.
- Review import history - see previous uploads for that account.
- Open the account - review balance, trades, and linked challenge details.
Manual accounts do not auto-sync. Upload a new export when you want fresh data.
Link Accounts to challenge phases
Each challenge phase should point at the account used for that phase. If a prop firm issues a new account for Phase 2 or funded status, link that new account to the new phase instead of reusing the old one.
To open the linked challenge from an Account's details sheet, open the Linked challenge menu and choose Go to challenge. The account sheet closes and Transactions opens with the linked challenge scrolled into view and briefly highlighted. If you have unsaved account edits, you can keep editing or discard them before leaving.
Select a Challenge or one of its Accounts
Open the account switcher in the sidebar. A Challenge row selects all its linked Accounts for combined journal history. When a Challenge has several Accounts, choose an indented Account below it to view only that Account's trades, equity, and balance targets. Its name and balance appear in the switcher after selection. Balances show in each connection's own currency: a Challenge whose Accounts use different currencies reads Mixed currencies, and an Account without a known currency reads account units.
Linked Accounts keep their own phase. Phase 1 · Passed identifies a completed evaluation retained for history; Funded · Current identifies the funded stage. Connection status and the enabled switch still describe syncing, separately from challenge progress.
Avoid duplicate tracking
If you track the same broker account through live sync and manual import, trackmyprop keeps those as separate accounts. This prevents live data and file data from being mixed.
Review retained data
When you delete a Connection but keep its Account data, the Account remains under Data as retained data. Choose View in Trade journal beside that Account to open the journal with only its retained Trades selected.
Retained Accounts also appear under Retained data in the account switcher. Choose All accounts there to clear the filter.
Permanent deletion from Data, including Also delete data from this connection, is blocked while an affected Account leads or follows a Trade Copier group. The dialog names the groups and links to Trade Copier. Resolve the group's positions and orders through its normal controls, then remove the Account from the group before deleting its data.
Deleted Accounts stay deleted through every sync, including Sync now. When a Connection has deleted Accounts, Data shows an "N accounts deleted" row for it with Restore. Restoring brings back the Accounts the broker still lists, and their history returns with the next sync. Accounts the broker no longer lists stay deleted.
Delete all trading data removes every trade, synced and imported, every
trading account with its balances and imports, and broker sync history. It
keeps challenges, payouts, expenses, notes, certificates and Trade Copier
history. Type delete all trading data to confirm.
Deleting synced Account data also queues removal of its journal Trades and Trade notes from cloud sync. Those removals reach your other computers when they next sync. A deliberate fresh import or broker reconnection can add broker history again.
Delete several challenge entries
trackmyprop only confirms a multi-entry deletion after every entry is removed. If part of the action fails, it attempts to restore the entries it already removed and shows an error instead of silently reporting success. The same protection applies when an Undo action cannot restore every entry.
