Trade journal

Review trades, notes, performance, and shareable insights after sync or import.

The Trade journal is where trades become reviewable. Trades can come from live sync or manual import.

Review your performance

Open Journal → Trade journal for the performance overview. It includes Net P&L, trade and day win percentages, profit factor, average win/loss, the selected P&L calendar month, evaluation, and performance by weekday and month.

Win rate is winning trades divided by winning plus losing trades; breakeven trades are left out. It shows — when a day, week or month has no winning or losing trade, on cards and on share cards alike.

Return and risk percentages use each selected Account's latest recorded equity from before the reporting period. trackmyprop does not substitute today's balance, an Account size, or an estimated currency conversion. If a selected Account has no earlier equity snapshot, has an unknown currency, or uses a different currency from another selected Account, Evaluation keeps the metrics that do not need capital and marks the affected rows Unavailable.

track Score shows its six-axis chart and overall score after at least five closed trades, including imported history and All time. It uses trade results rather than historical equity, so adding balance history does not change the score:

  • Edge: average profit per trade relative to the average loss.
  • Risk: largest closed-trade drawdown divided by the average loss. A drawdown of one average loss scores 100, five scores 50, and ten or more scores 0. This measures loss streaks, not account drawdown percentage or a Prop Firm's loss limit.
  • Recovery: net P&L divided by the largest closed-trade drawdown.
  • Consistency: the percentage of trading days with positive net P&L, using your selected timezone. Breakeven days count in the total.
  • Discipline: largest single loss divided by the average loss.
  • Sample: trade count, with 100 or more trades earning the highest confidence score.

The overall score averages the six axes and is capped at 60 when Edge is below 40. Small samples can change quickly. Where no loss has occurred, loss-based ratios show No losses or a dash rather than an invented ratio.

Portfolio scores require a confirmed shared currency for the selected Accounts. If that evidence is missing, select one Account to view its score. Account links and duplicate imports are still checked, including Accounts retained in the journal with live sync disabled.

Choose Share in the header to turn any of those insights into a polished image. Recent trades stay out of the dashboard selection flow; share an individual Trade from its own Actions menu when you want to post one setup.

Trading days and periods

Every trade counts toward its account's trading day:

  • Futures use the CME session, from 17:00 to 17:00 Chicago time. A trade closed after 17:00 Chicago already counts toward the next day, and a Sunday-evening trade counts toward Monday.
  • CFD and forex accounts use the broker's day boundary when trackmyprop knows it, otherwise the broker server's midnight.
  • Other accounts use the calendar day in your app time zone.

Daily P&L, daily statistics, the calendars and the daily-loss rules all use this one definition, and cards label it, for example Session: CME. A trade belongs to a day, week or month when its trading day falls inside that period. The same rule covers the Journal, Day view, the Week and Month tabs, Activity, Notebook and share cards.

Presets that run through today (This month, Year to date, Last 7/30/90 days) also include the current trading session. So an evening CME trade that already counts toward tomorrow's session stays in the period, though the period label shows today's date. Custom ranges and Last month end on their last day. The Journal calendar's "today" ring and Jump to current month follow the session; the Notebook's "today" uses your app time zone. Relative periods move to the new day at midnight in your app time zone, and catch up after the Mac wakes.

To set a CFD or forex connection's day boundary, set its reporting time zone in the connection settings (see Add a connection).

How trades are built

trackmyprop builds journal trades the way each broker reports them:

  • Tradovate, cTrader, Volumetrica and Match-Trader: the broker's own round trips.
  • TradeLocker and Rithmic: paired from fills, first in, first out.
  • DXtrade: no journal history yet. Its daily P&L shows Not available yet instead of $0.

A TradeLocker position is one journal row. Partial closes fold into it, its close time is the final close, and its P&L counts on the final close's trading day. TradeLocker fees and swap are unavailable, so its P&L is shown gross.

When the broker's own trade later replaces a live or fill-paired row, notes you wrote on the replaced rows move to the surviving trade. A fill-paired Volumetrica row with notes that matches no broker trade stays in the journal.

Trades in their quote currency

Some forex P&L arrives in the pair's quote currency instead of your account currency (for example on TradeLocker). trackmyprop keeps it in that currency, labels it unconverted and never guesses an exchange rate. Unconverted trades are left out of currency totals, counts and win rate, on the Journal, the Month tab, account statistics, the Overview and Activity. Wherever a total is shown, a note says how many trades were left out.

Equity graph

The equity graph draws a live point labelled Now, with open P&L only when every selected account reports live open P&L. Otherwise its header reads "N of M accounts live" and no live point is drawn. Both are hidden while a symbol filter is active. The live point moves along the time axis once a minute, and its value updates with each reading; the crosshair pill shows the balance.

With no account selected, the period-start balance counts the accounts in view plus any account with a trade in the period. Archived or disabled accounts without trades in the period are not added.

Live balances (the account detail headline and the Trade Copier total) use the broker's latest reading and reset when trackmyprop restarts. Views stop live broker reads when you leave them and resume as soon as you return.

Review trades

  1. Open Journal → Trades.
  2. Choose the trade view you need.
  3. Filter by account, date, symbol, or result.
  4. Open a trade to review its details.
  5. Add notes or tags while the context is fresh.

Trade history loads one page at a time from your device. Live Tradovate trades appear as soon as the broker stream reports them, without waiting for the next sync. Search and sorting apply to all trades matching your Account, date, and symbol filters, including trades on other pages. Saved history and notes remain available without internet; receiving new broker trades still needs a connection.

Switching to another section and returning to the same History view keeps your search, sort, and page. Changing the Account or reporting period returns to the first page so the results match the new selection.

What appears in a trade

Trade details depend on the broker data available, but can include:

  • Entry and exit time
  • Symbol
  • Side
  • Quantity
  • Gross P&L
  • Fees
  • Net P&L
  • Account and connection
  • Notes and tags

Recognize trade symbols

Trade lists show a circular instrument icon alongside the broker's exact symbol. Forex pairs use overlapping currency flags. Supported index and commodity contracts share their instrument's icon across expiry months; micro and standard contracts can share an icon while keeping their distinct tickers.

Symbol artwork keeps its own colors and circular shape when you change the app's appearance. Icons load with the app and work offline. If trackmyprop cannot confidently identify a symbol, it shows a neutral letter badge. Icons do not change your trade data, symbol filters, or copier mappings.

Review partial closes

For supported cTrader trades, use the chevron at the start of a Trade row to inspect how the position was executed.

trackmyprop keeps the position as one Trade and shows its broker-reported executions underneath it. For example, a 13.78-lot position closed as 3.78, 5, and 5 lots appears as one 13.78-lot Trade with three exit rows. Each exit keeps its own time, quantity, price, and realised P&L.

The detail status tells you whether the child exits agree with the combined Trade:

  • Totals reconciled means both closed quantity and realised P&L match.
  • Totals need review shows the Trade total, recorded-exit total, and difference. trackmyprop does not hide or replace a mismatch.
  • A syncing message means the Trade is present but its broker evidence has not finished backfilling yet.

Open Broker-reported orders inside the detail to see the final Order records cTrader returned, including cancelled protection Orders. This is not an event-by-event lifecycle audit: it shows each Order's final broker-reported state.

Match-Trader history

For Match-Trader Accounts, trackmyprop builds journal Trades from the platform's closed-position operations. It preserves the broker's entry and exit time, side, lot quantity, prices, realised result, commission, and swap when those fields are available. The same Connection also refreshes the Account balance and open positions.

On the first sync, trackmyprop requests closed-position history from the Account's creation date when Match-Trader supplies it. Older Accounts are fetched in smaller date windows so long histories do not depend on one oversized request. If the provider omits the creation date, the first sync uses the most recent year. Later syncs overlap the previous boundary briefly so delayed closing records are not missed.

Match-Trader history is position-based rather than a complete order-event audit. A synced Trade therefore reflects the closed position reported by the broker; trackmyprop does not invent intermediate order events the API did not return.

If a trade is missing

Check the source first:

  • For live accounts, open Live Connections and run Sync now.
  • For manual accounts, upload the latest broker export in Manual Imports.
  • If the trade belongs to a new account, add that connection before looking in the journal.

Write notes

You can write a note about a trade, day, week, month, Challenge, or payout, or keep a personal note.

  • From the Notebook, a note slides in on the right of the Notebook page, and the Notebook moves into a narrower column beside it. The sidebar tucks away while the Notebook shows the note. Choosing another note in the Notebook shows it in the same place.
  • Switching tabs leaves the note in the Notebook: other tabs look as usual, with your sidebar as you left it, and the note is still open when you come back. To keep the note beside other tabs while you find a trade or account to embed, choose Keep open on other tabs (the pin beside Close). Choose it again to keep the note in the Notebook only.
  • Everywhere else, such as a trade row, a day or week card, a Challenge, Activity, or Command-Shift-N for a quick personal note, the note opens in a window over the page. The window is the same size wherever you open it.

The top of a note shows its kind, such as Trade note or Day review. Give the note a name in its title field. Notes save as you type, and your last changes save when you close the note. Choose Close, or press Escape while you're in the note, to close it.

Press Command-B in a note to make text bold. Outside a note, Command-B still shows or hides the sidebar.

Describe and resize images in notes

Select an image in a note and choose Edit. You can also reach Edit image details with Tab and open it with Enter.

  • Add an Image description that explains what the image shows, such as the setup or price movement in a chart. Screen readers use this description, and it stays with the image when you export the note.
  • Turn on Decorative image only when the image adds no information. Screen readers will skip it.
  • Enter a Width (px) to resize without dragging. The height changes proportionally when the image's dimensions are available.

Choose Save changes to apply the details, or Cancel to keep the image unchanged. The note saves through the usual autosave flow.

Balance targets for a linked Account

Balance targets belong to one Account. If you selected a Challenge with multiple linked Accounts, open the sidebar account switcher and select an indented Account beneath the Challenge. Then open Targets on the equity graph. Select the Challenge row again to return to the combined journal history.
