Notifications and the menu bar

Get copier and connection alerts while trackmyprop is in the background, keep copying with the window closed, and use the menu bar item.

The trade copier runs on your Mac. It copies only while trackmyprop is open (the window, or the menu bar with the window closed) and the Mac is awake. These settings keep it running and make sure you hear about problems.

The notifications panel

Choose the bell in the sidebar footer to open the notifications panel. The badge counts unread alerts, including ones stored before trackmyprop started; alerts raised while the app is starting still appear and count.

Copier alerts in the panel include an outage after 30 seconds not copying, an unstable group, a failed or recovered close, and missed master entries. See Close results and alerts.

Desktop notifications

Open Settings → Notifications:

  • Desktop notifications shows copier errors and warnings as macOS notifications while trackmyprop is in the background. Connection errors appear too when Account sync errors is on.
  • Notification sound plays a sound with each desktop notification. It is on by default.

macOS asks for permission the first time trackmyprop sends one. If you declined, turn trackmyprop back on in System Settings → Notifications. Clicking a notification opens trackmyprop on the notifications panel; a collapsed sidebar stays collapsed.

Keep copying with the window closed

Open Settings → Account → Background:

  • Keep copying in the menu bar (on by default). Closing the window while live groups exist hides it instead of quitting, and copying continues. The menu bar item stays available so you can open the window again or quit.
  • Open at login opens trackmyprop with a normal window when you log in to your Mac, so live groups resume after a restart. It is available in the installed app only.

While any live copier group may send orders, trackmyprop keeps itself from being suspended. It reconnects straight away when the Mac wakes, when you unlock it, and when the network changes. Closing the lid or putting the Mac to sleep still stops copying.

Quitting or signing out while live groups copy asks first, on the trackmyprop window: Stop copying and quit or Stop copying and sign out. Open positions on followers are not managed while trackmyprop is closed or you are signed out.

The menu bar item

On macOS, trackmyprop has one menu bar item. It shows your open P&L, and its icon shows the copier state: idle, copying, or needs attention.

From $10,000 the amount is shortened (for example +$12.4K); the menu shows the exact figure. Only the trackmyprop icon shows while no position with live P&L is open. Positions on platforms without live P&L are never part of the amount; the menu says how many are open. -- shows while a broker value is pending or delayed, or when trackmyprop can't reach live data.

Click the item to see the total and up to eight Accounts with open positions. Accounts without a current value are listed first and show --, then the biggest gain or loss, or by name while Hide amounts is on. Any others are counted in a final row. The list is a snapshot from when you opened it, while the amount in the menu bar keeps updating.

Hide amounts replaces the amounts in the menu bar and its menu with dots and is remembered on this Mac. Amounts inside the trackmyprop window stay visible, so hide or close the window too before sharing your whole screen.

The amount appears once trackmyprop has started and you are signed in. Settings → Appearance → Open positions → Show open P&L indicator turns it off together with the sidebar card. With Keep copying in the menu bar on, the item stays as a plain icon even when you are signed out or the indicator is off, with a status line, Open trackmyprop, Pause all copying… and Quit trackmyprop.

If your menu bar is full, macOS may hide the item behind the camera notch on a MacBook; quit a menu bar app you don't need, or use an external display.

Copier groups in the menu

The menu lists your copier groups under Copier groups: each shows its platform logo, a status dot, the same status as in Trade Copier (such as Running, Paused, Waiting, Starting, Managing, Needs setup, Error or Review required), its symbol and its follower count. Waiting for sign-in, Starting and Reconnecting ask for attention only after 30 seconds, on an error, or while offline; Refreshing reads as calm.

If two groups would still read the same, they also show their master account, and then their position in the group list (for example "group 2", counting starred groups first). Confirmations and notifications name the group the same way. Starred groups come first, then groups that need attention; up to eight are listed, and a more groups in Trade Copier row opens the rest.

Open a group's submenu to see any error and its actions:

  • Turn on copying… resumes a paused group after you confirm. It is offered only for groups you've already confirmed for live copying in trackmyprop, that have an enabled follower, and that aren't waiting for review. cTrader groups always turn on in the app, so you can review contract sizing first. After you confirm, the group moves through Waiting or Starting to Running within a few seconds.
  • Turn off… stops a running group after you confirm, including a group that is waiting for review. If a running group isn't available for live copying, its submenu says why and the confirmation warns that it can't be turned back on afterwards. Turning a group off also stops copying closes and managing the trades it already copied; open positions and orders stay at the broker.
  • For cTrader, Stop new copies blocks new trades while open trades keep being managed (the same as Manage existing), and Stop everything… stops all management after you confirm.
  • Open in Trade Copier opens the group in trackmyprop, including for anything the menu can't do, such as confirming live copying or a review.

Pause all copying

Pause all copying… is available while live groups copy. It asks on the trackmyprop window, which comes to the front: new trades stop copying, cTrader groups that are still active switch to Manage existing and keep managing positions they already copied, and other groups turn off. trackmyprop reads your groups again after you confirm, and reports anything it could not pause as a notification. Turn groups back on in Trade Copier.

Confirmations and status

Confirmations appear on the trackmyprop window, which comes to the front; results that need your attention, such as a change the copier refused, arrive as a notification that names the group. Clicking it opens the group in Trade Copier. While a group's confirmation is open, its submenu offers only Show confirmation, so answer it before choosing another action. Only one menu confirmation opens at a time.

If the copier is slow to answer a change, the group shows it in progress, with no other actions, until it goes through or for up to about a minute and a half. If it then still shows the old state, check Trade Copier. If trackmyprop can't confirm your groups' current state, for example right after starting or when it hasn't read them for 30 seconds, the menu shows Copier status unavailable and offers no actions until it can.
