Import trades manually

Upload broker export files when live sync is unavailable, paused, or not needed.

Manual import creates a tracked account from broker files. Use it when you have historical trades, the broker does not support live sync yet, or you want to keep an account separate from a live connection.

Before you import

  • Export the account history from your broker.
  • Confirm the export belongs to the account you want to track.
  • Know the reporting timezone used by the export.

Import steps

  1. Open Manual Imports. If Data history is empty, its Import trades button opens the same page.
  2. Choose Import trades.
  3. Search for the broker. If no broker matches, choose Use Generic CSV.
  4. Follow the export instructions shown in the import dialog.
  5. Upload the file or bundle.
  6. Pick the reporting timezone and review the preview. It lists exactly the trades that will be saved, in the timezone you chose.
  7. Name the connection and save.

Closed-trade CSV files

Every broker except Tradovate imports one closed-trade CSV, labelled Generic CSV until trackmyprop ships a profile for that broker's own export. The import dialog shows each broker's export steps and which columns to rename. Extra columns are kept with each trade.

The file needs these columns, with these names (letter case, spaces and punctuation in the header do not matter):

  • Open Time and Close Time
  • Open Price and Close Price
  • Symbol, Side and Quantity
  • Net Profit, the trade result after fees

Optional columns:

  • Commission and Swap. Commission is stored as a positive cost whatever its sign in the file, and trackmyprop derives gross P&L as Net Profit plus commission minus swap. Net Profit is never reduced again.
  • Gross Profit, when the export has it.
  • Account ID or Account Number. Export one Account per file; mixed Account reports are rejected.
  • A broker trade id: Order ID, Ticket, Position ID, Deal ID, Trade ID, Execution ID or ID. Only these exact names are read as an id, so a "Side" or "Order Type" column is never mistaken for one.

Use a decimal point for numbers; thousands commas such as 1,234.56 are supported, but decimal commas are not. Use YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss timestamps and select the export's reporting timezone, or export ISO timestamps with explicit UTC offsets. At daylight-saving changes, ambiguous times require explicit offsets.

Fill-only exports, Excel files, and HTML reports are not supported. Export closed trades as CSV instead. Unsupported reports stop before an Account is created; trackmyprop never fills in missing profits or guesses how fills pair together.

Tradovate bundles

Tradovate exports several related CSV files. Choose them together; trackmyprop recognizes each file from its columns:

  • Performance (required) pairs the fills into trades.
  • Fills (required for a new import) gives exact fill times and the account.
  • Cash History adds fees, deposits and withdrawals. Only deposits and withdrawals are stored as cash movements; fees go to the trades they belong to.
  • Account Balance History adds daily balances, and Orders adds order details such as order type and AutoLiq.
  • Position History is not needed and is left out.

A re-import into an existing Account can leave out Fills.csv. Its trades then use the timezone you pick and are marked as fees unavailable.

The reporting timezone applies only to trades Fills.csv does not cover. The import suggests the timezones that match the times in Fills.csv and warns when the one you pick disagrees. Trades without fee data are labelled before fees: they show gross P&L with fees unavailable. Commission is shown as a positive cost, and a bundle's commission is its total fees (commission, exchange, clearing and NFA). Shorts show as sells.

The import is refused when a Fills or Account Balance file holds more than one account, or when two files of the same type are chosen. A malformed row stops the import and names the file, row and column, so nothing is dropped silently.

The same Tradovate export can be imported into two different Manual Import Accounts.

Import again later

To add newer history to an existing manual account:

  1. Open Manual Imports.
  2. Select the manual connection.
  3. Choose Add import.
  4. Upload the newer export.

trackmyprop skips identical imports and never writes duplicate trades when an export overlaps earlier history. For Tradovate, overlapping exports give one trade per round trip. A later export with Cash History fills in the fees of trades already imported and keeps their notes.

You can choose Re-sync before selecting a file. If the file is missing or cannot be imported, trackmyprop shows the reason and moves focus to Browse files or Choose another file. Duplicate counts are confirmed when you save. An already imported file adds no new trades.

Always start the next import from the existing Account. A changed filename does not identify a different Account, and trackmyprop does not use filenames as account identity.

Remove an import

Open the Account's Import history, choose the import's menu, then Delete this import. You can also delete an upload from Data history.

Deletion removes data owned only by that import and recalculates the affected totals. Trades shared with another import remain. This cannot be undone.

For Tradovate, removing any import leaves the journal as if only the remaining exports had been imported. A trade imported by an earlier version comes back with its notes when the import that merged it is removed, and removing an import never deletes it. Earlier-version trades whose fills cannot be rebuilt (for example, imported without Fills.csv) are left unchanged, and the import result says how many.

Some older imports do not contain enough information to identify their data safely. If trackmyprop cannot prove ownership, it keeps the data and explains why deletion could not finish. It does not guess from dates or filenames.

Common issues

  • File won’t parse, has no executions, or contains only imported rows - select Choose another file, then export a fresh broker report with all detail columns enabled and newer history.
  • Wrong account - export again from the account you actually want to track.
  • Missing Tradovate file - a new import needs Performance.csv and Fills.csv; add Cash History for fees.
  • Timestamps look wrong - check the reporting timezone before saving.
