Alerts and recovery
Understand copier alerts, review missed entries, and resume a paused group after checking your accounts at the broker.
When the copier cannot copy a trade safely, it skips it or pauses and tells you. It never guesses. Every skipped, failed or missed copy appears in Logs and as a notification, so you always know what to check at the broker.
Rules the copier always follows
- It records each copy on your Mac before it sends the order.
- It never resends an order whose result is unknown. A lost response counts as possibly sent, so the copier checks the broker or pauses for your review.
- A broker rejection is recorded as failed and is not retried.
- Exits only reduce. An exit closes at most what the copier opened on that follower and what the follower still holds, so a follower is never flipped to the other side, even after you changed its position by hand.
- Positions you opened by hand never count as copied. If manual and copied trades share one broker position, the copier warns you instead of correcting the size.
- Each follower is tracked separately. A follower that copied is never sent the order again because another follower failed.
Read copy results in Logs
Logs sits below your groups on the Trade Copier page, newest first.
- Pick a tab: All, Copied, Partial, Failed, Skipped or Pending. Failed lists only failures that are still unresolved.
- Filter by group if you run several.
- Expand a row with the chevron at its right. Each follower's result shows the broker's own words on its Broker: line.
- Use the fix the row offers, if any: Manage symbols (cTrader), Reconnect or Review missed entry.
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Skipped | Not sent, with the reason, such as below the broker minimum, symbol disabled, or balance not loaded yet. Nothing reached the broker. |
| Rejected | The broker refused the order. It is not retried. |
| Unconfirmed | trackmyprop does not know whether the order reached the broker. It is not counted as copied and is never resent. |
When only some followers copy a trade, the notification says how many were skipped. On cTrader, Partial can also mean the broker reduced an otherwise successful order. cTrader close retries show as Closed on retry or Already closed; see Close results on cTrader.
Alerts when a group stops copying
| Alert | When you get it |
|---|---|
| The group is not copying and is reconnecting | Once per outage, 30 seconds after copying stopped or after 3 failed attempts in a row. Exits and stop-loss and take-profit changes are not copied either. A cTrader group in Manage existing gets "is not managing copied trades" instead. |
| Copying resumed | The group is copying again. |
| The group keeps disconnecting | It reconnected 3 times in 5 minutes. Master trades placed while it reconnects are not copied. |
| The group needs attention because copying cannot restart | The same problem keeps stopping it. The alert names the copied positions nothing is managing. |
Saving group settings never sends these alerts. Alerts appear in the notifications panel, and as macOS notifications while trackmyprop is in the background.
Review missed entries
A missed entry is a master trade the copier did not copy: trackmyprop was closed, the master or follower was reconnecting, the group was restarting after a settings change, or the broker sent the fill more than 30 seconds late. A missed entry is never copied later.
Find them in the Missed entries card on the Trade Copier page, in the notice above the group's Copier Canvas (choose Review), or from the row in Logs. Each shows the symbol, side, size, time, follower and reason.
On Tradovate and NinjaTrader, a follower that missed an entry copies only exits on that contract until you review it. The group shows Review required, and Health reads Bad, until you review every missed entry.
- Check the master and the follower at the broker.
- Choose what to do with the follower:
- Flatten follower (Tradovate, NinjaTrader and cTrader) sends a real order that closes only what the copier opened on that follower for that contract. The master is not changed. On Tradovate and NinjaTrader the group must be copying, and the entry clears once the master is flat. If Tradovate does not confirm the close, the group pauses for review and nothing is resent.
- Mark reviewed clears the entry once the accounts are where you want them. On Tradovate and NinjaTrader it is refused while the master still holds the contract, and the row explains why.
- If the group is off, close the follower's position at the broker yourself. Mark the entry reviewed once the master is flat.
A master entry in the 5 seconds after you mark an entry reviewed is not copied, and that follower is paused on the contract again.
Resume a group that needs review
Tradovate and NinjaTrader groups pause with Review required when a master fill could not be copied within 30 seconds, or when trackmyprop could not confirm whether an order or a size increase reached Tradovate. Reconnecting or restarting trackmyprop does not resume the group.
While it is paused, the copier still cancels and reduces copied working orders, but sends no new orders or increases. Pausing does not close positions, cancel orders or block manual trading. Do not count on master closes reaching the followers; manage open positions at the broker.
Open the review
Choose Review… on the group's card, or in the master's Overview.
Check every account in Tradovate
Compare the master's and each follower's positions and working orders. Orders already sent can still fill.
Fix differences at the broker
The copier does not correct positions for you.
Resume
Tick I've reviewed the master and follower accounts in Tradovate and choose Resume future copies. Only future trades copy; earlier ones stay excluded. The group goes through Starting to Running.
Choose Keep paused if the accounts are not ready. Stop copier turns off all automatic management for the group; review is still required before it copies again.
Check an unconfirmed order
An Unconfirmed order can block Resume future copies.
- Choose Review order outcomes in the review, or Check broker outcome… on the follower's row in Logs.
- Pick the account and request, then choose Check broker outcome. Checking never resends anything.
- If Tradovate shows a matching full fill or a clear rejection, choose Record verified outcome. This updates the record only. It does not change positions or resume copying.
- Go back to the review and resume when it lets you.
Partial fills, working orders and order changes cannot be verified this way. They stay unconfirmed and the group stays paused, even after you check the account yourself. If a group stays blocked, send feedback from the app.
Close results on cTrader
When a follower close fails, the copier retries and sends one alert per close once it knows the outcome:
- Closed on retry: the retry closed the follower.
- Already closed: the follower was closed when checked again, for example by hand.
- Close failed with the follower still open: no retry closed it within 5 seconds. trackmyprop keeps retrying, and after 10 minutes one more alert asks you to close it manually.
- Partial close not applied: the retry stopped, for example because you turned the group off, while the follower was still open. That close has not reduced it.
A stop-loss or take-profit copy that keeps failing stops after 5 attempts or 10 minutes, with one notification asking you to check the follower's levels.
Check your accounts after a warning
When you see a gap, drift or follower protection warning:
- Pause the group.
- At the broker, compare the master position, each follower position and the working orders for each affected symbol.
- Fix any mismatch at the broker.
- Turn the group on again only when every account is where you want it.
Follower protection, a master setting, warns you on Tradovate and NinjaTrader shortly after the master goes flat if a follower still holds copied exposure or a copied working order. It never places a correcting order. A follower with a zero position can still have working orders, so check those too.
If something goes wrong
Open Live Connections and check that the master and every follower are connected. You get an alert after 30 seconds without copying. See Sync and connection issues.
When Tradovate tells trackmyprop to slow down, the copier stops sending for every group on that Tradovate login until the wait ends, which can be up to an hour. A copy attempted meanwhile is refused and shows the remaining wait. If Tradovate asks for a security check, copying pauses: complete it, then reconnect the connection.
If trackmyprop was offline across the 17:00 Chicago session open, Tradovate cannot list the fills from before it. Check the master and followers at the broker before relying on the group.
The group stops and waits instead of retrying. Reconnect cTrader in Live Connections; the group checks its positions again before copying.
Live copying continues and trackmyprop keeps retrying the check. You get a warning on the first delay, an error after 15 minutes, and a summary of copied and not copied trades when the check finishes.
