Risk settings

See and change the daily loss limit and profit target Tradovate enforces, and lock an evaluation account for a set time.

Risk Settings shows the risk limits Tradovate keeps for each connected account, lets you change your daily limits, and lets you lock an eligible evaluation account. It works for Tradovate and NinjaTrader connections. Other platforms show Native risk settings are not available for this platform.

Tradovate enforces these limits on its side, including while trackmyprop is closed.

Open an account's settings

  1. In the sidebar, expand Live Connections and choose Risk Settings.
  2. Find the connection. The first account's settings open by default.
  3. Choose Show settings on any other account.

Opening this page, or connecting an account, never changes a limit or locks an account. You see the values already saved in Tradovate, including limits you set there yourself.

Read the current settings

Each account shows when its settings were Checked. While the panel is open, trackmyprop checks again about once a minute. Choose Refresh to check now.

If a check fails, the account shows the time it was Last observed and asks you to refresh before making changes. An unavailable value never means a limit is off or an account is unlocked.

SectionWhat it showsCan you change it?
Personal limitsYour own Daily loss limit and Daily profit targetYes, where Tradovate allows
Other personal limitsYour weekly loss, weekly profit and trailing drawdownNo, shown for reference
Provider limitsThe limits your broker or prop firm set, with weekly and drawdown limits under Other provider limitsNo

Provider limits always apply, even when your personal limit is Off. Provider limits unavailable means trackmyprop could not read them, not that there are none.

On a prop-firm account, Personal limits are the ones saved for your trader login. Save any edit in Tradovate before checking it here: a value you have not saved there is not a limit yet.

Change a daily limit

  1. Choose Refresh and review the current personal and provider limits.
  2. Turn on Daily loss limit or Daily profit target and enter an amount above zero, in USD. To clear a limit, turn its switch off.
  3. Choose Save settings.
  4. Wait for Risk settings saved. trackmyprop reads the value back from Tradovate to confirm it.

Saving one limit keeps your other settings as they are, and turning a personal limit off never changes a provider limit.

If someone changed the settings in Tradovate while you were editing, trackmyprop asks you to choose Discard changes, review the new values, and edit again.

If a save cannot be confirmed, trackmyprop says so and never repeats the change by itself. Refresh, or check Tradovate, before you try again.

Lock an account

A manual lockout makes Tradovate close open positions, cancel working orders and reject new orders on the account, on every platform, until the time runs out.

Manual lockout is available only on eligible Tradovate Prop evaluation accounts on a Demo connection, and only when you are signed in as the account's trader. Tradovate checks eligibility when you submit, so No manual lockout does not prove an account can be locked.

  1. Choose Refresh on the account so its Manual lockout status is current.
  2. Enter the Lockout duration (minutes): a whole number from 1 to 1,440 (24 hours).
  3. Choose Lock account….
  4. Check the account and duration, then choose Lock account for … minutes.

The status shows Locked, No manual lockout or Status unavailable. A locked account shows the time left and when it ends. When the countdown reaches zero, trackmyprop waits for Tradovate to confirm before showing the account as unlocked. Lockouts you start in Tradovate also appear here after a refresh.

If the request's outcome is uncertain, the lockout may already be active. trackmyprop never retries it. Choose Refresh lockout status and check before doing anything else.

Risk actions and the trade copier

If the account leads a copier group that is copying, a new limit or a lockout can make Tradovate close its positions, and the copier copies those closes to the followers. The confirmation warns you first. Either tick I understand this also closes the followers' copied positions, or choose Turn off group first….

Turning the group off stops new copies, copied closes and management of copied trades. Follower positions and orders stay open at the broker, and the group stays off until you turn it back on in Trade Copier. Some groups cannot be turned back on afterwards, and the dialog says so.

If the account follows a copier group, Trade Copier pauses copies to it until the lockout ends, with a notification for each group. This applies to lockouts made in trackmyprop, not to ones you start in Tradovate.

If something goes wrong

Reconnecting cannot remove a prop firm's restriction or end a lockout early. For the full reconnect steps, see Broker sync and connection issues.
